What do you do?

What do you do...

...when the phone rings, and it's your least favorite social worker in the entire state?

And she tells you that two hours south, there's a new baby alone in an isolette.

And this is your son's half-sibling.

And the birthmom has a history of alcohol abuse during pregnancy.

And there's that nagging mental illness thing.

And Birthmom wasn't exactly pleasant to work with before.

And did I mention there's this little niggling issue of moving to the mission field?

What do you do?

You pray.

Oh my, yes.

Lord, be with Mary Grace and family as they make this difficult decision. Lead them down the road You want them to walk. Provide grace and peace in whatever direction to lead. Give wisdom and patience. Watch over this little one. Amen.

I have not been able to stop thinking about this since I read it yesterday. We had to deal with this very possibility last year with our foster daughter's mom (FAS and mental instability included). It was very difficult. In our case the choice ended up getting taken away from us, but I do understand what you are going through, and I have been praying for you and your son's tiny sister every time it crosses my mind- which is nearly constantly.
