Cloth diapering a newborn...

..that weighs about six and a half pounds...

...and has the legs of a very small chicken...

...is just not doable.

Unless I'm missing something, it's going to be 'sposies for the Baby Girl for a while. The BG's can't possibly work on her. Not only do they make her legs poke in directions they absolutely should not, but they also have massive gaps in places that are, shall we say, vital for the diaper to perform as a diaper should.

LOL! My smallest child was 5 pounds 12 oz at birth. She wore preemie clothes at birth and the hospital was kind enough to send us home with a pack of preemie diapers.

When those were gone we used a cloth diaper doubler (I'm not kidding!) inside the smallest diaper cover we could find. That diaper cover can fit a sock monkey if you overlap the velcro!

We had to wait until my tiny son was almost three months old before we could get our cloth diapers to fit him without major leaks. Reading your post took me back to the earliest days of my little guy's life. Good luck with your newest addition!

It is my absolute favorite place to shop for cloth diapers. Karen is a wonderful, wonderful lady. She has wonderful diapers for newborns! I used the orange-edge prefolds and loved them! And they are economical too! You can't buy them anywhere else.

She has tons of info on diapering a newborn here:

Hope this helps!
